As an S5 leaver (Government or Private school) - please apply using the application forms provided at your school./ As a mature candidate – please apply through the Ministry of Education by completing the application form provided there by December.
The academy operates week days between 8am and 3pm.
Classes are slotted for 6 hours in a day as follows: 8am to 10am; 10.15am to 12.15pm; 1pm to 3pm – the 15mins and 1 hour slots are dedicated break times.
The academy operates a flexi-timetable whereby learners attend classes at the times and days specified on their timetables; other times are dedicated as non-contact hours for personal study time.
Mature learners are learners for whom there has been a gap between the moment they left S5 (or equivalent in private schools) and their taking up tertiary level studies at SBSA, for a variety of reasons:
The learner has been looking for employment.
The learner has been employed.
The learner has been studying at SIDOL to obtain or improve on IGCSE grades.
The learner has been studying at other institutions and may or may not have completed and/or passed the programme of study.
A mature applicant, subject to evaluation and meeting the minimum entry requirements, may be considered for admission.
A part time learner is one who attends classes on a part-time basis at SBSA. This learner can either be employed (in-service) or un-employed. Part-time learners need to fund their studies themselves, or they are funded by their organization, and they do not receive a bursary allowance like full-time learners.

The bursary allowance is a monthly allowance to which all Seychellois learners enrolled in a full-time programme at SBSA are entitled. This is currently set at SR850 (1st-years), SR950 (2nd-years) and SR1,050 (3rd-years).
Learners from Praslin and La Digue and who reside on Mahe during their studies, whether hosted at the Youth Hostel or elsewhere on Mahe, receive an additional SR1,600.
A mature learner who left S5 or equivalent level more than 5 years before enrolling in a full-time programme, is entitled to a mature learner allowance, which amounts to SR1,800 per month. The mature learner allowance replaces the bursary allowance. One cannot receive both.
If the mature learner did not qualify for the mature learner allowance at the beginning of the programme, but does reach the 5 year period during the 3 year course, the learner becomes entitled to the allowance as and when the 5 year period is reached.
All transcripts are given to learners upon successful completion of the programme of study. This is given at the end of the final year of study, within one month of completion of all related exams and, for part-time learners, upon settling of all outstanding fees.
The related certificates are given after the graduation ceremony.
To qualify for a scholarship a learner must, after successfully completing all courses of the programme, obtain a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 75% or above.
A learner who graduates with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 85% or above can access a scholarship to an international university in a venue approved by the Scholarship Scheme.
IFNOSS is the dedicated Learner Management Information System used by SBSA. It houses all learner data and, through personal password protected access, learners and parents/guardians can access results as well as learning materials uploaded by the teaching team.
